Born in 1965, Annie Jones suffered from Hirsutism, excessive hair growth in women. Her parents began exhibiting her at the age of 9 months under the name The Infant Esau, and received an impressive weekly salary of $150. She was photographed around age 5 by the photographer, Matthew Brady.
Annie eventually became known as the country’s top bearded lady. She married twice, to Richard Elliot whom she divorced after a 14 years marriage, and then to William Donovan. She dies of Tuberculosis in 1902.
